A year of Literary Abandon!

The challenge: To read 120 books in 365 days.
*and to keep an account of it online via this book blog*

The rules:
- Each book read must reside within the Book Case
- Each book must be read cover to cover
- There is to be no purchasing, touching or pursuing of new books before the end of the challenge.
- All 120 books MUST be read by midnight of the 3rd day of September, year 2013.
-Each book MUST receive one blog post before it is completed.

      On September 1st of this year, I realized that after 5 years of University, there was no new schedule to follow, no new syllabi to begin worrying about or new texts to purchase... I realized that my life had drastically changed.  For the past 5 years, I was given a text and asked to read it and then asked to discuss and analyse and write about it.  My days as a student were over. But, all was not lost!  For the first time in 5 years, I picked up a book that I wanted to read and devoured it in 2 days.

     And... on September 3rd 2012, I set for myself a reading challenge and began a book blog. I put myself to a much needed and deliciously terrifying task: To read, from cover to cover, each of the text's that currently reside within my bookcase.  This undertaking involves 120 individual books, 30% of which house multiple texts. And the challenge... to read them all in One Year and to keep up blog posts about each text. Not a small undertaking in the least, nor an easy one.  For instance, I have had to restrict myself to not touch, purchase or inquire about any book that does not have a place in my bookcase.  While a year seems to be a decent amount of time, the well seasoned Literature student in me knows all too well how quickly those days can pass by.  However, the bookworm who wanders around in my head holding a well worn book assures me that this will be not only do-able, but well worth the effort.

     I am thoroughly excited for this project and though I foresee many bumps and a rest stop or two along the way, I shall endeavor to read and blog faithfully and complete my challenge on time!

So come along with me, all who dare, and together let us climb each shelf and conquer valiantly the texts that sit upon them.
